Magnesium hydroxide

Magnesium chloride

This is the form in magnesium "oil" sprays and bath flakes. It's highly soluble and famous for one thing in deodorant: the sting.   • It's not an antiperspirant. It won't stop you from sweating. Only aluminum-based antiperspirants block sweat glands — that's a different product doing a different job.

  • It's not a supplement. A deodorant is not a meaningful way to raise your body's magnesium levels. Anyone telling you otherwise is stretching.
